A Brave few!

A brave few made it to midnight... Crazy kids! Course I made it there too...
no sleep for 34 hours makes band director cranky...we'll let's hope not...
The seniors...

New Years in Madrid..

Well, there are a few trying to stick it out midnight. They are a select few, but they are holding strong. The tradition is to eat 12 grapes at midnight...not sure what that's about, you can look it up yourself...

Tonight's dinner was very nice, much food, from tortilla to fish, to bistec, to jamon, salpicon and chorizo bocadillos to wonderful ensalada frise, to,fries, cheese soup, rice pudding, flan, and Pop and more. (Forgot the quest..., it was food to with frsh bread...if your child went hungry, it would be very sad, something for everyone.

Tomorrow we are off to Toledo, performance there and sightseeing. Then to the futbol stadium for dinner.

Lots of tired kids, but they know that staying up will pay off. A very small contingent celebrated New Years in Moscow at 9pm. Pretty sad, but we feel like we made it to the official time somewhere...

Will take more pics tomorrow! Good night!

Arrived safely...

Only one passport left on the plane...no comment as to who...
We then went to the hotel and then for a coach bus tour of Madrid.
Trying hard to keep kids awake...not super successful... One student promised me that she wouldn't sleep until the new year and then proceeded to fall asleep at noon. Guess she was confused as to when the new year started.
A few pics...
At the bullfighting ring
In front of don Quixote...
Tonight dinner and then SLEEP!!!

Flying out of JFK to Madrid...

All is good so far. Left two behind in New York. Fortunately they were parents who wanted to wait to fly out tomorrow in exchange for $1000 travel vouchers. We all made the flight...I was never worried...
Next stop...Barajas airport...Madrid Spain!
